Insert the HTML Code for the character of your choice into your HTML document.
- All characters have a 2, 3, or 4 digit number assigned to them
- some have one or two (case-sensitive) names, which are much easier to remember
- For example, to place the symbol "½" in your html document:
- Type ½ or ½
- Don't forget the semi-colon ";" at the end
- ¡¡Warning!! Not all browsers/fonts support all characters; and some characters don't bold very well.
- Most of the characters are also available by holding down the <Alt> key while pressing Ø### on the numeric keypad, then releasing <Alt>
- ### is the code for the particular character
- This only works using the numeric keypad, not the number keys above the letters
- characters with 2 digit codes are entered with <Alt>Ø##
- You can practice the codes by clicking in the box below
- for example, try pressing <Alt>Ø189 to make the symbol "½"
- or <Alt>049 <Alt>047 <Alt>050 to make "1/2":
